Metamorphosis @ your library – Teen Summer Reading 2008 starts TOMORROW!
Check out the Teen Summer Reading page (look above the Teen Space logo) for the review form and info on Fine Forgiveness.
I picked up gift certificates from Mallard Ice Cream and Rocket Donuts yesterday and I’m heading off to Village Books, the Newstand, Merchbot and Sirena Gelato today to finish picking up the weekly prizes. Each week we will draw for prizes at both the Central Library and at the Fairhaven Branch. So wherever you read, you may be a winner. At the end of the summer, I’ll put all the names together and draw for two fantastic grand prizes! There may also be a little something for the person who reviews the most books.
Plus, if you guys turn in at least 250 reviews this summer, I’ll dye my hair some fantastic color. Your call. Anything but green. Last year teens turned in over 160 reviews. You can do better than that! Consider this a challenge!

Welcome to June. There are a ton (figuratively) of things going on at BPL this month.
- Next week we have Anime Night (6/11) – now with more pizza! Our featured anime is Tsubasa, courtesy of Funimation’s OperationAnime. Taking place from 5:30 to 7:30 in the Dodson Room.
- Teen Advisory Council (TAC) meets Thursday, June 12 from 4:30 to 5:30. This group figures out how the library can be better for teens. I bring cookies. Send me an email if you would like me to send you an application.
- Friday (6/13) marks the beginning of Teen Summer Reading. You read a book or listen to a book, write up a little review and (maybe) win one of over 30 weekly prizes. And it’s good stuff, too. Like ice cream and donuts and books. You can also have up to $5 waived off your card. More on this next week.
- Play Games on Monday, June 16. Featuring pizza, wii, Kokology, and other funitude (<– not a real word) from 6 to 7:30pm in the Lecture Room.
- New book discussion group, Teens Read, will meet Tuesday, June 24 at 2:30 in the Dodson Room. This month we’re reading Aimee by Mary Beth Miller. Check out the Teens Read blog to read about other books and bookish things.
So, as you see, we should be having a pretty good month. School’s out in less than two weeks and we’ve got excitement galore waiting for you. Or at least distractions (I promise not to tell you how it’s educational).
Let me know if you have any questions. You know how to find me (psst, look to your right). – Jen
