Back to school. Fall weather. It must be September. Argh.

2nd Annual Twilight Prom
September 20 from 3 to 5 in the Fireplace Room at the Fairhaven Branch Library
Celebrate Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series and new book Breaking Dawn at BPL’s second annual Twilight Prom. We’ll watch trailers from the upcoming movie, vote on the best prom dress (wearing one is optional), and challenge our knowledge of the series. Whether you’re team Edward or team Jacob, fun will be had. Door prizes and refreshments provided.

Join us for a discussion of the book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.

Summer wrap-up

Tomorrow is the last day of Teen Summer Reading 2008. If you want fine forgiveness and don’t want to wait until next June, you’d best get down here before we close tomorrow night (6pm).

I am headed off to explore the home of the Cullens, Blacks and Swans to get in the mood for the Twilight Prom (and to get rained on), but before  I go, here’s a recap of this summer’s fantastic reading program:

When you can see (point/chuckle) at Jen and get your picture taken with her and her fancy new do: Sept. 9 at 4:30 in the TeenSpace at the Central Library.

TeensRead Elsewhere next Tuesday (8/26)

Check out the TeensRead site (www.bplteensread.wordpress.org – or the link above) to see some discussion questions about Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin and then come talk about it at the TeensRead book group next Tuesday, August 26th from 2:30 to 3:30 in the Dodson Room (in back of the Children’s Library).

The site also includes the dates of upcoming meetings and the titles we’ll be discussing through the end of 2008. We hope to see you there!

Newishness on BPLTeens

I’ve added Anime Club and Games pages to BPLTeens (see links at the top of the page). This is the speediest way to get dates for upcoming programs, including game tournamants. I’ll continue to post monthly events info at the start of each month, but if you’re wondering when the next tourney is or when we’ll be watching anime in December, this is the quickest way to find out. As always, I welcome your comments on how to make this space even better.

Updates:

Our second SSB Brawl Tournament took place on August 9th. 11 players vied for prizes from Reset Games. Props goes to Fatman for being our resident expert and gaining top honors in this bout. The next tourney will be in November.

Teen Summer Reading is still going strong. Almost 100 teens have read and reviewed over 350 books. I am so impressed I’m practically speechless. Practically.

Stop by game night tonight for DDR, wii and Charoodle action! It’ll be rockin’.
