I’ve been buried in the redesign of the library website and almost forgot to post this week’s program information. Thankfully I came to my senses long enough to remember to get the word out. BTW, we plan to launch the new library website within the week. The teen page will stay on WordPress for the next few months, though, because I want to be able to update it from afar.
Here’s the deal on this week’s programs:
Anime Night featuring Ouran High School Host Club
Join us for a rollicking good time watching this popular shojo anime.
Pizza and prizes too.
This Wednesday, 5:30 to 7:30pm in the Dodson Room.
Be there.
TAC meeting this Thursday
Come tell me how to make the library better for teens.
Click on the Teen Advisory Council link at the top of the page for more information and an application.

I’ve added Anime Club and Games pages to BPLTeens (see links at the top of the page). This is the speediest way to get dates for upcoming programs, including game tournamants. I’ll continue to post monthly events info at the start of each month, but if you’re wondering when the next tourney is or when we’ll be watching anime in December, this is the quickest way to find out. As always, I welcome your comments on how to make this space even better.
Updates:
Our second SSB Brawl Tournament took place on August 9th. 11 players vied for prizes from Reset Games. Props goes to Fatman for being our resident expert and gaining top honors in this bout. The next tourney will be in November.
Teen Summer Reading is still going strong. Almost 100 teens have read and reviewed over 350 books. I am so impressed I’m practically speechless. Practically.
Stop by game night tonight for DDR, wii and Charoodle action! It’ll be rockin’.

Sometimes it’s just too hot to think. Here’s a list of when stuff is happening at BPL in July so all you have to
do is figure out what day it is. (I know this can be difficult, but it is not impossible. Just believe.)
- Anime Night is Wednesday, July 9 and begins at 5:30 in the Dodson Room in the Children’s library. We will be watching xxxHOLIC. Visit operationanime.com for more on this title. With pizza.
- Teen Advisory Council (TAC) meets Thursday, July 10 from 4:30 to 5:30. This group figures out how the library can be better for teens. I bring cookies. Email me if you would like me to send you an application.
- Play games on Monday, July 21. I’ve just ordered metal Dance Dance Revolution pads, so if things go right, we’ll be dancing (or clumsily attempting to dance) the night away. Plus open wii play and other fun amusements. And PIZZA.
- The Teens Read book group discusses Gifts by Ursula K. LeGuin on Tuesday, July 22 from 2:30 to
3:30 in the Dodson Room. Hold your copy (book or audiobook) today and join us for a no-pressure round table conversation. And snacks.
- Metamorphosis – Teen Summer Reading 2008 continues through August. See the link at the top of the page for complete details.
Upcoming events:
August 9 – Game tournament – either wii SSB Brawl or PS2 Dance Dance Revolution. Have a preference? Email me!
September 20 – 2nd annual Twilight Prom! Celebrate the release of the fourth book (Breaking Dawn is out on August 2 – you can put a hold on it now.) Stay tuned for more details.
September 27 – 2nd annual Bellcon – Bellingham’s only comic book convention. Visit the official Bellcon myspace for more info.
