I’ve been buried in the redesign of the library website and almost forgot to post this week’s program information. Thankfully I came to my senses long enough to remember to get the word out. BTW, we plan to launch the new library website within the week. The teen page will stay on WordPress for the next few months, though, because I want to be able to update it from afar.
Here’s the deal on this week’s programs:
Anime Night featuring Ouran High School Host Club
Join us for a rollicking good time watching this popular shojo anime.
Pizza and prizes too.
This Wednesday, 5:30 to 7:30pm in the Dodson Room.
Be there.
TAC meeting this Thursday
Come tell me how to make the library better for teens.
Click on the Teen Advisory Council link at the top of the page for more information and an application.

So I hear that it’s supposed to snow more today. The library is a pretty nice place when the streets and sidewalks are blanketed in snow. To be all cozy and warm inside, surrounded by thousands of books and magazines, is wonderful.
Thank you to everyone who came to game night on Monday. I hope you all enjoyed “Don’t Rest Your Head” (except for the four of you playing Brawl, which I hope you enjoyed, too.) I am looking forward to continuing the game in January.
And a super big thank you to everyone who has made this last year the most wonderful to date for me at BPL. I’ve had a tremendous time. I hope that you’ve had some good times, too.
I’ll post some statistics on here the last week of December/first week of January just to wow you. We have been busy, that’s for sure.
Have a fantastic holiday and break from school. Drop by for TeensRead on 12/29 if you’re so inclined. We’re reading 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher and it is a killer read. Should make for a good, meaty discussion.

We will be gaming at the library tonight. No mere snow or ice will stop the pizza, cookies, holiday sweets and Jen from celebrating the last game night of the year.
Be there or miss out on the exitement (and little oranges)!

We’ll have the wii set up, board games for your perusal, or you can learn to play a roll playing game called Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Come celebrate the end of the year!

G’day to all. Just wanted to let everyone know a few things:
1. The Fall 2008 Shelve It! is online. If you need a good book for over the holiday breaks, this is a goo place to start. You might also want to check out back issues (the books are more likely to be checked in at the library). Click on ”Shelve It” at the top of the screen for older issues of the newsletter.

2. TeensRead, Bellingham’s own teen book discussion group will meet next Monday, from 6:30 to 7:30pm in the Dodson Room in the Children’s Library to talk about the book Fat Kid Rules the World by K.L. Going
3. If you happen to be attending the 7pm showing of Twilight at the Sunset Square Theaters on Friday 11/21 (it’s sold out), you’ll have a chance to win copies of the Twilight books by answering Twilight trivia! I will be there at 6:30 along with Whatcom County Library staff to present trivia and prizes! I look forward to hearing what you all have to say about the movie, !

Last Saturday’s Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament was a great success with 25 teens battling it out over 4 1/2 hours to determine who would win a gift card generously donated by Reset Games. 72 sodas later (I am not kidding you), Pain came out on top as the winner of the $30 gift card. Fatman came in second and won the $20 card, while Hans finished a solid third and laid claim to the $10 card. Well played everyone!
Our next tournament will be in February and will feature a game that is not Super Smash Brothers. Stay tuned!

Here is an update on the two most important parts of this Saturday’s tournament: prizes and food. (Okay, gameplay is important, too…)
PRIZES – once again RESET GAMES is generously supplying our prizes for the tournament. Top three finishers will get gift cards to Reset Games!
FOOD – there will be no pizza this time (boo!) but there will be sweets and snacks and soda. So don’t fear, munchies will be had.
I hope to see all you gamers on Saturday for some serious Melee action!
-Jennifer

1. You have through the weekend (11/2) to get your artwork in to your local public library to be part of “Whatcomics” and have a chance of being published. See the post from Oct. 17 for details.
2. The new Shelve It! is available at the Central Library. I’m still adding the links to the .pdf, so it should be up on here next week.
3. I hope all you gamers are gearing up for the Melee Tournament this coming Saturday (Nov. 8). See the post right below for more details.
4. November events are listed under “Upcoming Events” at the top of the page or under the specific topic (Anime, Games, etc.) also at the top of the page.
